How do I upload my website files?

The best way to upload your website files is by using an FTP program*. You will need the login details supplied to you in your AKIS welcome email to do this. Using those details as defined below you can then login and upload / transfer files via FTP:

   FTP Host : ftp.your-domain.com
   Username : your account username
   Password : your account password

Files for public access (your website) should be uploaded to the public_html directory.
Files and directories outside the public_html directory are not accessible to the public.
The www directory is just a link to the public_html directory.

See the FTP Transfer (Uploading Files) section of these FAQs for further FTP information.

*If you don't already have an FTP program, a web search will show many possible programs to use, but as an example, you can download a free one called SmartFTP (www.smartftp.com).
