Zero Day Vulnerability in many WordPress Themes (Timthumb)

SUMMARY: An image resizing utility called timthumb.php is widely used by many WordPress themes. Google shows over 39 million results for the script name. If your WordPress theme is bundled with an unmodified timthumb.php as many commercial and free themes are, then you should immediately either remove it or edit it – read the original story and full info over at markmaunder.com

WordPress 3.2.1 is out and is a general update

WordPress 3.2.1 is available and is a general update to the recent 3.2 WordPress version. We will be upgrading all AKIS full service clients over the next 24 hours. AKIS Hosting / Self-Service clients should update their own installations ASAP as usual.

WordPress 3.2 is available and is an update for all previous WordPress versions. High profile recent hacks: Sony to Sega to Fox News

We’d been planning on doing a news post rounding up all the recent high profile hacks of websites and databases, etc… but not had the time.  However The Telegraph have just published a news article so saving us the time and trouble of doing this ourselves – so for a summary of the big names hit by hackers have a look here: Timeline of recent hacks: from Sony to Sega to Fox News.  Remember one thing – if they can’t protect themselves, what hope for a small company website if targeted?

UPDATE 5th Sept 2011: And more big sites hit: “Visitors to the websites of Vodafone, the Daily Telegraph, UPS and four others were re-directed to a site set up by Turkish hackers on Sunday night.“
