IE9 ‘breaks’ Cufon fancy text

Many websites these days (including those we build) use “Cufon” to produce what you might call fancy text. This is mainly used for headings and the like, but also sometimes for all text.  Per the highlighted example to the right.

It has come to our attention that in the current IE9 beta (testing) version cufon doesn’t render anything at all, not even the actual text.   The final IE9 does the same! Read more on the IE9 problems here.

Ensure your WordPress site is Secure!

WordPressIt’s a sad fact of life that there are people out there who want to hack and vandalise your website… sad but true.  If we at AKIS built your WordPress based website as part of our Website Solutions service/package then you can rest assured we have taken a number of measures to protect your site from hackers.  But for those DIY website owners out there, please ensure you take suitable precautions to secure your WordPress site such as these 3 simple but very effective measures:

1. Don’t name your admin user “admin“, call it your name or something else.
2. Ensure your password is NOT made up of dictionary words – ie should be e.g. u62x$u5H#WHd
2. Install the great “Limit Login Attempts” plugin to block brute force attacks.

Contact us for a range of other measures you can and should take ;o)

You must also always ensure you keep your WordPress core installation up-to-date with the latest version – there are regular updates and security fixes being released and you should ALWAYS update to the latest version – your WP admin dashboard warns you when an update is needed.  This is easily done via your WP admin panel and is a simple one-touch operation – there is no excuse not to.

If you are a DIY website owner and are unfortunate enough to have your WordPress site hacked then try and keep calm, and follow the guidance laid down by WordPress.
