WordPress 3.1.4 is available and is a security update for all previous WordPress versions. This is an important update to apply to your sites as soon as possible. We will be upgrading all AKIS full service clients over the next 24 hours. AKIS Hosting / Self-Service clients should update their own installations ASAP as a priority.
Many websites these days (including those we build) use “Cufon” to produce what you might call fancy text. This is mainly used for headings and the like, but also sometimes for all text. Per the highlighted example to the right.
It has come to our attention that in the current IE9 beta (testing) version cufon doesn’t render anything at all, not even the actual text. The final IE9 does the same! Read more on the IE9 problems here.
A new range of web addresses (top level domain extensions) have been approved by the internet domain regulatory body ICANN meaning domain names could end in almost any word rather than the common .com or other current tld extensions. From next year organisations will be able to end their web addresses with anything they want, as long as they can show a legitimate claim to it and have deep pockets. The ICANN initiative is aimed at major brands and web address resellers rather than individuals – one would have to be both vain and wealthy to pay the £114,000 application fee.
